Baroness Brady of Knightsbridge CBE
Karren Brady, Baroness Brady of Knightsbridge CBE, is probably best known as ‘the first woman in football’ after becoming Managing Director of Birmingham City FC at only 23 and turning the club’s fortunes around. Brady took over the club when it was in administration, and in her first year at the helm, the club recorded a financial trading profit. In 1997 the Club launched on the Stock Market valued at the time of float at £25 million making her the youngest Managing Director of a PLC in the UK.

During her tenure at Birmingham City, Brady increased the average gate of the Club from 6,000 to a sell-out capacity of over 30,000 and in 2009 her business was valued at over £80 million. She sold Birmingham City FC in 2009, and in 2010 became the Vice Chairman of West Ham FC, the Premier League club that will be moving to the Olympic Stadium in 2016 as part of a deal she negotiated.
Previously, she spent 7 years serving on both the Boards of Channel 4 television, where she chaired the Renumeration Committee and the global retailer Mothercare PLC.
Brady has won many awards for services to business over the years, including being named Business Woman of the Year and Most Inspirational Woman of the Year. She has also been presented with the coveted Spirit of Everywoman Award, acknowledging her outstanding achievements in changing the landscape for women in business. She was voted by Cosmopolitan as one of the 100 Most Powerful Women in the World in 2004 and again in 2006 when she attended The Queen’s lunch for Women Achievers and Business Leader, and 2010 saw her listed in the business category of The Sunday Telegraph’s ‘100 Most Powerful Women in Britain’, whilst also included in the Evening Standard’s list of ‘London’s 1000 Most Influential People 2010’.
Brady has emerged as a powerful advocate for British business and in September 2013 addressed the Conservative Party Conference and is proud to be the “Small Business Ambassador” to the Party, traveling up and down the country meeting and engaging with small business owners who are the back bone of the economy. She serves on the Department for Culture Media & Sport’s WISAB (Women in Sport Advisory Board) to help increase the status, influence and participation of women in the world of sport.

He and his team, working in partnership with the other DIO functions have dramatically improved the management and exploitation of data and information in the DIO including business intelligence, analysis and the way that data and information is used in decision making and delivery of services. Getting higher quality data in a new IT system has enabled the way the DIO works with its customer and delivery partners to become much more data driven and digital. The use of that data has enabled the DIO to prove an £8.5bn funding gap, and agree the disposal of 91 sites which will reduce costs and release land for housing.
Before this role Tony spent 15 years as a consultant and interim manager (most recently with PA Consulting) delivering project turnarounds and major outsourcing deals.
